Nightrike was founded in February of 1988 by
Lead Singer/Guitarist Rory Fiszer and Drummer Sam Bennett. The pair began jamming together during a stay at the KI Sawyer Air Force base during the 1988 U.P. Winter Olympics. Recognizing an immediate chemistry, the two set about writing tunes that would eventually wind up on their first release "Street Justice". The band was joined by Lead Guitarist Kevin Johnson in July of 1988.
Bass player and Singer Jeff Rule came into the fold shortly thereafter in August of 1988. With it's lineup in place, the band began rehearsing for their live debut.
The band's initial public performance came about one year to the day of their formation! On the evening of February 25th, 1989, NightStrike made their debut to nearly a thousand screaming teenagers at the U.P. Winter Olympics, being held that year in their hometown of Ontonagon, Michigan.
