There are a bunch of bands out there that play better than all of us in NightStrike, but unfortunately they mostly play covers. Write your own shit! 6. Do you remember your first gig?
Ahh...Winter Olympics...I still can't beleive Sam setup that big of a gig for us.(so what else is new?) I was so nervous. Initially, my feelings about the performance were pretty poor, but afterwards I realized that everything you do is a stepping stone to the future and we all need to start somewhere.

Old fashioned Sweet W/ Olives please!
8. Favorite Food?

10. What influenced you to begin playing?
Seeing other bands, having the time of their lives, entertaining fans with their music and the crowd reactions they got while performing. Nothing feels better than a crowd of people, singing, dancing and havin' a good ole time to music that you are making.
11. Favorite place on earth?
I spent time in Crested Butte, Co. a while back,

I cried at the end of Lassie (tell anyone,
and I'll deny it)
15. The venue that you would most love to play?
Madison Square Garden would be the ultimate, no?16. Any advice for young players?
Get instruction. Don't waste time trying to figure it out on your own. Hang out with other good players, so you're constantly pushed to move forward and advance your skills. There is a wealth of information for sale and for free on the internet. Keep learning new things. Falling in a rut is easy to do if you don't push forward with new techniques.
17. What is the code that you live by?
Live for today, as yesterday is gone and tomorrow
is never guaranteed.
18. Are you a Dog or Cat person?
Neither
19. Boxers or Briefs?
Uh...are these my only choices?
20. Musically, where are you in five years?
I see little change in my personal life other than probably more drama with children issues. As far as NightStrike, I see us gigging out and releasing more CDs. This is a great band that dovetails seamlessly into my personal life, yet we're still getting the job done, and having a blast doing it!
Musical timeline:

on my family. In that time, I sold my rig
and other than a crappy acoustic guitar,
given to me by Joel Giesau, (I think
he borrowed it from his Dad) I was playing
very little. But, it kept me playing
somewhat."
2003-2004: "I spent a couple years going through a
divorce and some really bad dating
experiences. But, then I met my current
wife Krystal, what a Godsend...she
plays guitar too...You're hired!...er...
will you marry me? We picked up another
electric guitar together and started really
working on my chops again."
2004-2005: Revolution

Lee, Duane Allman, Jimi Hendrix and the man that I consider to be the greatest player alive...Doug Aldrich!

6. Do you remember your first gig?
Yes...UP Winter Olympics, 1989. Nearly athousand kids (so were we) all ready to be entertained. Oops! Probably should have spent more than five months learning how to play our instruments, not to mention rehearsing. We had a blast, and really, truly started at the bottom (in front of a huge crowd, no less). There was really no place to go, but up!
7. Favorite Drink?
Tanqueray and Tonic
8. Favorite Food?
I'll try anything once. However, I like sushi and
steamed rice.
9. What are your hobbies?
Music is and always has been my passion. Golf, Hiking, Canoeing, Kayaking, Legos, Home improvements,
Hunting, Water skiing, Snow skiing, working out, etc...
10. What influenced you to begin playing?
Without question, hearing Tommy Lee! Probably more than that, though, was the first time I saw the "Looks that Kill" video - Holy Cow! What fun! I bugged my dad the next day to take me to the mall in Novi and I bought Shout at the Devil almost as soon as it came out in 1983. From there on out, I was banging away on anything I could until I got my drum kit in 1988!
11. Favorite place on earth?
Tulum, Mexico, so far...
12. The place you have to see before you die?
Machu Pichu in Peru. I am obsessed with Meso-
American culture and history...the Incas, the
Mayans...
13. The one thing that to make your life complete?
Knowing that I left nothing on the table. I gave
it all I had to give.
14. What is a little known fact about you?
I still sleep with my tattered baby blanket,
"Blanky"! I thought I lost it a couple years
ago at Fish's house. I headed back to the UP
and forgot it. God bless, his wife Cathy, she
saved it for me!
15. The venue that you would most love to play?
Definitely Red Rocks in Colorado! Also, we've
never headlined at the Whiskey, so that would be
pretty cool, too!
16. Any advice for young players?
I don't know if it's advice or not, but when I first started playing I was bound and determined to recreate every fill Lars Ulrich performed on "And Justice for All". I never got close. Lars is phenomenal. Looking back, it actually stunted my growth as a player. Drummers keep time and occassionally throw in a cool counter rhythm fill or something. I have spent years trying to unlearn all of those overplaying habits and focus on playing for the song. If there's any advice, that's it. Play for the song!
17. What is the code that you live by?
"Be cool, with as many cool people, as you can
possibly be cool with!"
18. Are you a Dog or Cat person?
Dog, cats are messy animals!
19. Boxers or Briefs?
Boxer briefs!
20. Musically, where are you in five years?
Hopefully, still able to get together and make music with my friends. This whole reunion, or whatever they're callling it, has been a blast. If we're fortunate to still be having this much fun, then long live NightStrike! If it is still together I can only say that I will be eternally grateful.
